Dog Obedience Training & Individual Instruction
Help with loose-leash walking, recall and everyday manners. Personal instruction for you and your dog, at home and in public.

Build everyday obedience skills with commands such as sit, stay, down, heel, recall, release and place. Ira teaches you how to practice between sessions and introduce distractions as your dog progresses.
Ira uses verbal guidance, coaxing and praise instead of shock collars or food rewards. His approach draws on his background handling military and police working dogs and his experience teaching pet owners.
This is not just dog training. It’s your education as an owner/handler, so you are trained for all the dogs you’ll ever have. The instruction lays down the complete foundation: a system for how to train and keep training your dog now and later.
What your dog (and you) will learn
- Heel, Stop and Sit: walking at your side with no pulling, stopping when you stop, then sitting on the stop
- Down: the command that teaches respect and patience, builds alertness and restricts anticipation
- Stay and Come (Return): keeps your dog from bolting, rushing the food bowl or jumping; the recall becomes synonymous with Heel
- Release, Place, Off, Stop and turn work: dozens more complex commands are taught as the dog progresses
- Verbal, hand and foot commands, on and off leash
- Owner/handler instruction so the training continues between sessions and for life
- AKC title certifications included with all training packages
Why owners choose The K-9 Handler®
Training starts at the first visit
Training begins during the first visit. Your dog’s progress depends on their starting point, needs and consistent practice between sessions.
No equipment to buy
The program uses verbal guidance, coaxing and praise, without shock collars or clickers.
An investment for life
You learn a system of training, not a trick. It carries over to every dog you will ever own.
Peace of mind
Work toward calmer greetings, more manageable walks and fewer unwanted behaviors at home. Ira helps you set practical goals for your dog.

Obedience Training: common questions
Do you use shock collars or treats?
No. The K-9 Handler® never uses shock collars, and this is not treat training. Dogs are taught with gentle but strict verbal discipline, coaxing and verbal praise rewards.
Where does the training take place?
Ira comes to you. Personal sessions begin with an evaluation and training service call at your home, then move into real-world settings such as walks, public places and the Saturday group gatherings at Bark Park in Henderson, so the obedience holds up where you actually live with your dog.
Is my dog too old (or too small) to train?
All breeds and ages are welcome, from teacup Yorkies to poodles to pit bulls. Older dogs benefit from refresher courses just as puppies benefit from a strong start; the method adapts to each dog’s specific situation.
What does obedience training cost?
The initial evaluation and training service call (2–3 hours) is $199 and is included in every package. Packages start at $899 for six sessions. See the full rates page for every option.
Ready to start obedience training?
Tell Ira what you’d like to change. The in-home evaluation and first lesson take 2–3 hours and cost $199, included in every package.
